Pennies On The Dollar

Since 1993, federal law has required Minnesota to recover some Medicaid expenses by going after dead Medicaid recipients' property. Many people are not informed about the program, and not able to pay for it - and experts say that wealthier families may be avoiding it at taxpayers' expense. This series is part of the USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism's 2021 Data Fellowship, which provided training, mentoring, and funding support.
